Michigan Street Commons: Leading the Change in Iron District’s Landscape
The Iron District in Milwaukee is seeing the rise of its first new building, the Michigan Street Commons. This 99-unit apartment facility, supported by federal low-income housing tax credits, will cater to households earning a maximum of 60% of Milwaukee County’s median income. The $27.5 million project is set to offer below-market-rate accommodations for three decades. City authorities are contributing $1.8 million through a tax incremental financing district to support the project’s financial needs.
